Install 64 on top of 32 [Solved]
« on: March 25, 2014, 11:24:39 am »
OK .. here is another.  If I install the 64 bit version  of Peppermint 4 on netbook that already has 32 bit version on it, will I keep my personal settings [panel/Google sync and such]?  Or will all that be put back to a fresh install status too?

Regards,

Ron

Erm, it really depends on the way you install it and if you have a separate /home partition (32/64 bit doesn't really come into it).

If you don't have a separate /home partition, EVERYTHING will be erased.

So make sure you backup whatever you cannot afford to loose first

OK .. thank you .. did the stock install option from the live desktop, with a dual boot install against the Starter Windows 7 on this netbook.

It appears to this novice that is above is the separate/home partition standard, then I am ok?

If you're asking if a default installation adds a separate /home partition .. NO
