Hi Jozefmw,

To save the file manager settings open the file manager and click View > Preserve this folder's Settings.

That will only save the setting for a single folder .. you'll have to repeat that for EVERY folder.

There *is* a way to make it the *default* view mode if you'd prefer.....

Make sure ALL File manager windows are closed and leave them closed.  <-- this is important because if you open a fie manager window and close it again before you log off/on it will overwrite the pcmanfm.conf file with the current settings again

Open a terminal with Ctrl+Alt+T

Run:
Code: [Select]
gedit ~/.config/pcmanfm/peppermint/pcmanfm.conf
find the line that reads:-

view_mode=icon

and change it to

view_mode=list

SAVE the file and exit gedit.

Now log off/on  (DO NOT open a file manager window before logging off/on).

After logging back on the pcmanfm file manager will open ALL folders in "Detailed List" view by default.

Options appear to be:-

view_mode=icon
view_mode=compact
view_mode=thumbnail
view_mode=list
