Display problems with Samsung Netbook Model N130
« on: April 20, 2018, 11:16:51 am »
Hi folks,
I tried to install Peppermint version 8 (Respin) on my Samsung N130 netbook and everything seems working well but if I reboot after installation is completed I see either scrambled pixels at the display or it keeps completely dark and I can't see anything. Is there anything I can do to get this working? Is there a possibility (i.ex.keycode) for switching down to a lower runlevel with text mode? Is it possible to edit some configuration files (which ones?) of the X-Window display manually?

Thank you very much for any help!

Norbert

PS: Please excuse my bad English.

Thank you very much for your help!

It was a bit tricky to get an unscrambled display because the suspend trick worked only after a few attempts but then I was able to edit and update the grub configuration as described. Now everything works well.

And now I have a dual boot system with Peppermint OS V7 and V8.

Btw. why did you change the default browser from Firefox to Google Chrome?

At the time Firefox 57 wasn't out, and earlier version of Firefox were s-l-o-w by comparison to Chromium (not Chrome).

There's nothing stopping you from switching to Firefox though .. specially considering the new versions of Firefox are now just as quick as Chromium/Chrome :)

Ok, thanks for this info. For my N130 it is useful to have a lightweight web browser.
And once more many thanks for your support. I'm really happy now with my working netbook  :D
