Google Thinks I'm In The Ukraine and I Speak Russian -- WTF
« on: August 05, 2017, 03:14:12 pm »
No joke !  Anyone else have this problem ?

I don't use Google Search all that much, but I use their URL shortener regularly.

I block most ads on websites, but the ones that sneak through increasingly have graphics containing Russian text.

Only thing I can think of is... I use VPN, but mostly via the US and Canada.   :-\

With all the leftist Russian political fantasies going on in this country, I don't want to end up on a NSA hit list, or whatevs ...

Hrm ...  I might have discovered a clue.

I've been blocking my geolocation in Opera.

When I looked at the exceptions, I found:  https://www.google.com.ua:443

I'll get rid of that, and see what happens.   ;)

Good for Opera.  Perhaps you don't know this yet, VinDSL, but, according to the video below, you already speak Russian.  This makes you the most interesting man in the world!

P.S.

No one says this is easy.  Check it out:

LoL !   ;D

I wish it was French.  This time, next week, I'll be dining with the Poutine eaters in Montreal.

When you think about it, I should be happy they think I'm in the Ukraine, speaking Russian. Not everyone can fool Google.

Yes, and all the thanks goes my darling Opera.  Stay thirsty, my friends ...  8)

Personally, I'd let Google keep thinking that. ;)

Yes, you ARE doing something right, VinDSL.  Since I've starting using a smartphone, Google knows a lot more about where I've been than before than before I started using a smartphone.  The bottom line is that using a free McDonald's hotspot will do me in every time!
