Screen lock stopped working recently peppermint 8
« on: March 31, 2018, 11:30:07 am »
I noticed over the last few days that my screen isn't locking as it should.  I run Xscreensaver in Peppermint 8 and haven't messed with it in a long time.  The screensaver does run as is should, it just doesn't lock the screen anymore.  I can manually lock the screen and unlock with no problem but would prefer it to lock automatically when I am away.  The box is still checked for the screen to lock at 60 minutes.

The only change I have made to the system lately is installing the Pcloud desktop application and have it set to auto start at boot.  I thought there might be some process running in the background that keeps the thing from locking but see nothing there and as I said before, the screensaver does run and behave as usual.

What I do know is that there have been several minor updates which I have allowed.  I can't say if any of those are the culprit or not.

Any idea what might be preventing it from locking?  I've been searching the forums but not finding anything that seems to pertain to my situation.

What normally locks the screen ? .. xscreensavers or the xfce4-power-manager ?

And which lockscreen ? .. the default i3lock or xscreensavers ?

Xscreensaver usually locks the screen using the Xscreensaver lock.

Locking manually is Ctrl+alt+Del and clicking on "Lockscreen" which is lxlock.  I placed a shortcut on the desktop temporarily until Xscreensaver is working again.

Code: [Select]
