Locked Out
« on: March 03, 2018, 04:58:48 am »
I'm very much a casual linux user and started running various OS since 2012.I have no pretentions about understanding how systems operate, only in the sense they get me online to open a browser.I've been using Peppermint 7 happily on this machine for about 6 months until last week.I get to the normal password screen, enter my password as normal, then the black screen with the number of files and blocks in the top left then I'm bounced back to enter my password.I've tried using the guest account but with the same result.I've managed to get to the forum by using a usb of tahr 6.06.Any clues to how I might resolve the problem with Peppermint 7?

If at the login screen you hit Ctrl+Alt+F1 .. then login in text mode, what is returned if you then run:
Code: [Select]
sudo service lightdm restart
?
