(SOLVED) disappearing settings of the Power Manager
« on: July 19, 2014, 01:28:32 am »
After rebooting, the settings of the Power Manager are gone.
The screen went to sleep even during a Skype-call.
I guess, there is a solution for this one as well .... 8)

What do you mean by the settings are "gone" ?

Do you mean reverted to defaults ?

Have you gone to

menu > Preferences > Light Locker Settings

and set the top 2 sliders all the way to the left ?

also in the same place, try toggling

Enable light-locker: OFF

then click "Apply"

Thank you for reacting.

This is what happenes:

When I start Power Manager in the menu, I first get : ' Xfce4 power Manger is not running, do you wat to launch it now.'
I click 'run' and the small window with that message disappears.

Then I start Power Manger again in the menu.
I go to On AC

In tab Actions:

Actions
Put the computer to sleep when inactive for:
the slider is all the way left 'in default
'
while the word 'Never' stands underneath the slider.

In tab Monitor:

Monitor:
Both sliders are default all the way left
and both show the word 'Never' underneath the sliders.

I go 'Extended'

Set computer inactivity sleep mode is on 'Suspend' by default.
Set monitor sleep mode is on  'Standby' by default.

Lock screen when going for suspend/hibernate is not active.

After exacrly nine minutes, the screen turns black.

I then go to 'General'
General options

System tray icon is on 'when battery is present'
When hibernate button is pressed:  on 'Ask'
When sleep button is pressed: on 'Nothing'
Monitor power management control : not active.
Show notifications to notify about the battery state: active.

I now choose to enable 'Monitor power management control'
and close.

I reboot and after nine minutes the screen turned black again.

By the way, I did not find 'light-locker' to put off.

rebooted and still does the screen turns black after nine minutes.

I'm confused that you couldn't find light-locker .. what's the output from:
Code: [Select]
dpkg -l | grep light-locker
and
Code: [Select]
dpkg -l | grep xscreensaver
?

I found the solution.

In  Menue / Light Locker Settings /

Put both sliders to extreme left.
That's all.

Sorry, yes you did mention Light Locker in the first place.

However, for one or another reason I did not find it.
Slowly I get a bit more insight and understanding  in 'New Land' on a very 'beginners-level  ...

Now I can start helping my neighbour too.

There still are a few other topics, which I will post soon.

I am not only enthousiastic about Peppermint, (Why continue with complicated Windows if life can be so much easyier ???)

And,  I am even more pleased and gratefulbout the support.
I feel very comfortable and at home here.
So thank you again for your time and efforts.
