Warning for Firefox Users
« on: February 02, 2018, 09:22:36 am »
hi guys...just be aware of this web app, ext or whatever FF is calling it now...it comes with a fake FF manual update tab that dumps a nice little cryptominer into your browser...DAMIEN

Firefox add-on has been spotted that injects an in-browser miner. Detected by Bleeepingcomputer’s Lawrence Abrams, this extension is called Image Previewer. To infect the systems, the addon spreads via malicious websites that pretend to deliver a manual Firefox update.

Wow, thanks for the heads-up, DAMIEN1307.

One important tip to anyone running Firefox on a Linux system:  ALWAYS update Firefox (or any web browser) using the version in your distro's software repositories.  Web browsers are usually kept up to date, even on distributions that have long development cycles, like Debian.  Never update manually using a version from another source in a Linux environment.
