Pep 7 seems more lighter and faster then Pep8
« on: December 28, 2017, 08:03:38 pm »
I have installed Pep 7 and Pep 8 onto my system fully updated and everything. For some reason I have realized Pep 7  runs better then Pep8. It rubs more faster and smoother then Pep 8. Any idea why, dont get me wrong Pep8 is still good and runs good, but 7 just flies compare to 8

The only things I can think of is either

a) Possibly some kind of 4.10 kernel or Xorg regression that's being highlighted on your particular hardware.

or

b) Your system is right on the ragged edge of the RAM limits .. 8 is ever so slightly heavier than 7, but we're talking about a few megabytes only.

So is there anything else that could be a factor .. like are they on the same drive ? .. does the drive have no bad sectors ? .. etc. ?

Because you're the first person to mention a speed difference.

Also what exactly do you mean by "faster" .. do you mean boot time, or application startup, or what ?

Hi,

Just re-installed Pep 7 on a spare partition and I can see/feel no discernible difference.

It must therefore be something with this specific install/machine
