Are you running 32bit or 64bit Peppermint 6 ?

What's the output from:
Code: [Select]
uname -aand
Code: [Select]
pipelight-plugin --system-check

I am running 64bit Peppermint 6.

Here the output of both terminal commands:

Code: [Select]

But my internet provider is still Windows-only oriented...

Mine too, and I know the feeling.  When you need to contact you ISP, these people will only deal with you through IE --which means Windows only, of course.  This is very frustrating.  >:(

paulus, our friend, you now have some allies here at Peppermint!  ;)

Hi perknh,

Thank you for your kind words! I really feel sustained and among friends here, because of people like you, who happened to be all over this forum, fortunately! :)

The first time I opened Firefox nothing showed up in the plugins list, but after the two last terminal commands it did, and the test site worked! For the very first time!

But the horizon.tv site doesn't. :(

I tried with or without the User Agent Overrider working, but that didn't made any difference with the test site. After trying Firefox crashed.

The output of the Firefox crash:

This rapport also contains technical information about the state of the application when it crashed.

I restarted Firefox, after having sent the crash rapport, and then it worked! Though not fluently, but anyway!

Thank you so much! I think the rather buggy presentation on the horizon.tv has not anything to do with Peppermint, so I think I have to live with that. But if you think, regarding the crash rapport of Firefox, that there is still something to win, please, let me know.

But again: many thanks for your great help! 8) ;D :)

That crash report doesn't give us much to go on

Which user agent switcher are you using ?

[EDIT]

And just as a matter of interest which graphics hardware/drivers are you using .. what's the output from:
Code: [Select]
sudo lshw -C display

It is the Agent User Overrider, a firefox extension.

The terminal output:
Code: [Select]

maybe try this:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/user-agent-switcher/

also try disabling all other addons

and are you being offered any proprietary graphics drivers if you go to:
menu > Preferences > Additional drivers
in the Peppermint menu ?

Thanks for all good advices!

I think that the agent user switch isn't of much use any longer, as therefor the Silverlight/Pipelight plugin does the job.

As far as disabling of other extensions is concerned: that made it really better: the horizon.tv site is more fluent now. First my CPU monitor was quite full indicating during watching (100%); now it is for about 80% full, so that's a huge difference!

Switching to another proprietary graphics drivers didn't change much, although there is a new menu item under preferences, by which I could fine-tune the driver. I really have to follow a new study about how to set the parameters of that in a more suitable way! At the moment I don't dare to touch anything, as if I do just one thing wrong, I might not be able to see a thing on the screen, and THAT would be a serious problem! >:(

Again: thank you very much! You really have dug into the problem, and even beyond that! I greatly admire your attitude and patience! :)
