Do you know what the native resolution of your monitor is ?

I'm wondering because as both the icons AND text are larger than expected if this is simply an incorrectly set resolution issue.

If it were JUST large text I'd think it was a DPI issue, but not with both.

Try running
Code: [Select]
sudo xed /etc/X11/xorg.conf
and adding the line
Code: [Select]
	Option         "DPI" "96 x 96"
to the "Device" section, so it now reads
Code: [Select]
# nvidia-xconfig: X configuration file generated by nvidia-xconfig
# nvidia-xconfig:  version 384.90  (buildmeister@swio-display-x86-rhel47-05)  Tue Sep 19 18:13:03 PDT 2017

That fixed it perfectly, been using peppermint for over a year and this comp always had this problem.

Thanks a ton, you fixed my driver and font :)

Any idea why that setting would change or be deleted?

None whatsoever .. I've always had to add that with nvidia drivers or I end up with small text (but only in certain places like the menu) .. go figure :-\
