Dolphin file manager not working
« on: July 02, 2014, 05:49:46 pm »
Hi, I installed Dolphin file manager as I recall having installed that on previous releases and quite liking it. However, I can't get it to work. Nothing at all happens when you click it from Menu. I launched Synaptic Manager to reinstall. That didn't do anything, so I did a 'complete remove'. However, it still shows up in Menu/Program items. As was the case when it was installed - nothing happens when you click it.

Any ideas? I can live without it, but would quite like to remove it from the list as it's meant to be uninstalled.  :-\

Thanks!

Non whatsoever....

What happens if you run:
Code: [Select]
dolphin
from the command line ?

Only this. It still shows up in the Menu though as an installed program.

Code: [Select]
ms@ms-LINUX-DESKTOP ~ $ dolphin
The program 'dolphin' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing:
sudo apt-get install dolphin
ms@ms-LINUX-DESKTOP ~ $

What do you want to do .. remove dolphin from the menu, or install it and try to get it working ?

Run:
Code: [Select]
rm -v /home/ms/.local/share/applications/dolphin.desktop
that should have cleared it from the menu :)
