Update Icon in the panel desappeared
« on: September 30, 2017, 06:02:57 am »
Hi everyone,
today I looked for a way to do the updates automatically and googleing I found the following command:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure -plow unattended-upgrades

that seemed to me to be the solution, but finally I notice that I lost the "Update Icon" on the panel (close to the battery status)
I don't know if it is normal, but I would like to have it back even if updates are automatic.

Anyone could help me?
Thanks in advance.

P.S. I'm using Peppermint 5 on a very old PC in this case.
Fabrizio

Thanks a lot PCNetSpec for your reply, I tried what you suggested but it didn't make any difference, it doesn't fixed the problem.

Okay I've realised where I (and you) was going wrong...

Peppermint 5 had the Ubuntu update-manager NOT the mintupdate (manager) .. so there never was a permanent panel icon, it only appears when you have uppdates waiting which you won't have now you have enabled unattended-upgrades.
