Nope, no protection here  :D
Seriously, I don't know how many times I've dropped my phone. Somehow, it always lands with the glass side Up  :-\
Just say NO to flatpak and snap!!

Good god, the smartphone manufactures seem to have run out of ideas and are now embarked on a 'who can pack in the most cameras' war ::)

What the $%^& is the point of 5 rear cameras ? .. I have no doubt they'll come up with some meaningless marketing blurb, but really ?

Just curious; do you guys use any protection, or just take your chances? -- VinDSL

Nope, no protection here

Same here.  I used to, but I got tired of buying cases and shields all of the time.  Going bareback for myself, though I still buy protective cases for mrs.perknh's phones.  Besides, it's so much easier to carry a phone in your pocket without all that stuff added onto it.

LoL Google Fi. What did I get myself into?!?!?

Google Fi customers will get 5G from Sprint's network   :D

According to Signal Spy, my phone has been using a nearby T-Mobile tower, here at the abode.

Looks like I'll be going full circle back to Sprint/Boost Mobile towers, when 5G becomes available.

When 5G becomes available expect websites to become even more bloated .. no benefit to those on 5G, and treacle for everyone else.

I'm such a cynic :)

A little light reading on the subject. It boils down to the cameras do different things.

Yeah I get the idea of say having say a separate normal and macro lensed sensor (because it'd be difficult to have interchangeable lenses) .. basically if it were phased correctly it'd be a "single camera with 2 sensors each with their own fixed lens"

But that 5 camera phone said something about some of them being monochrome so when combined you get more detail .. that's the gibberish I'm having difficulty seeing as anything other than "look at us, we have more cameras than you" .. basically because they've all run out of fresh ideas and now it's the marketing department driving the design.

You watch, someone will now do a six camera phone, and come up with some gibberish why its better and an absolutely necessity .. bullsh**

Mine has two rear camera lenses. Based on the apertures, it looks like one is for closeups. More than two is too many, in my opinion.

::)    what I am hearing from the much younger and fairly tech savvy folk is they are 'tired' of carrying their phones and want them to be implanted in their arms somehow.?   All of you Luddites better get up with the times. Maybe they will add several more cameras and implant them in their forehead as a kind of third eye'.
Del l Latitude E6420, Intel core i5-2520M, 32 bit, 2011, fresh 1 TB WD HD, (efi bootloader on /dev/sda2 and rest of drive one partition /dev/sda1-no swap.

We will all learn more and more about less and less, until we know everything about nothing.    But my gratitude is boundless for this community

Here in Stockholm there's a company where employes no longer have keys or access cards to enter the office.
Instead, they have an implanted chip under the skin on their hands.
Up to everyones imagination, what else that chip can be used for!
Just say NO to flatpak and snap!!

Gmail is already running like cold molasses on our large laptop.  And, according to the news (which is often about Huawei), 5G is a security nightmare. ::)

Installed the new Microsoft Edge browser (with Bing Search) on my smarty, today.

My Reddit post w/pic - Easier than reposting it here  :)

The $%#! Google Search widget is pinned at the bottom, by default, on Android 9 'Pie'.

Nothing I can do about that, except ignore it...  ::)

Nice looking, VinDSL.  And that's on your Moto E4 -- and it's running Pie, and all for 40 buckaroos?  Wow, VinDSL, you're doing all right with that phone! :)

PS

Sorry.  I looked at the picture of the phone, but didn't read it.  It's a Moto X4, not an E4.  My goodness, they sure look a lot alike. ;)
