gnome-schedule for P8
« on: August 26, 2017, 12:39:05 pm »
Hello Peppermint people. I am trying to find a way of being able to start Kazam and then leave recording until a predetermined time and then shut down Kazam. I want to start recording a live cast of a football game and then leave. I get the idea that gnome-schedule should be able to do that, but when I try to install it, it doesn't appear to be available. Any suggestions on how I can do this? Thanks guys. :-\

Hi alynur,
Maybe this could explain it...
https://askubuntu.com/questions/841374/cannot-install-gnome-schedule-from-official-ubuntu-repositories#841388

It was available in 14.04, see:
https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=gnome-schedule

Hi pin, you beat me to it, I had just found that link on google and was going to post it. Thanks. Now I just have to figure out how to use it.

An easier way to install gnome-schedule in Peppermint 7 or 8 would be too download these 2 files:-
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/109052632/python-support_1.0.15_all.deb
and:-
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/60698472/gnome-schedule_2.1.1-4_all.deb
and double click them (in that order) to install.

Dunno why it's not in the repos, as those versions are specifically for 16.04 :-\

Hi PCNetSpec. I have it installed but I don't know how to add the task to finish recording kazam since I will start it manually. What would I type into the Task field?

No idea .. I don't even know what kazam is ???

Is it an application ?

If so what does it's 'man' page say ?

if worst comes to worst you could just try
Code: [Select]
killall kazam
not elegant, but it should kill the app.

Kazam is a video screen capture app. I'll give the killall kazam a shot. Not a big deal, just trying to learn something new, thanks.

that should definiyely kill kazam (as long as it was started as the current user) but whether it'll also screw up the video recording is anyone's guess until you test it ;)
