bluetooth pain
« on: August 19, 2017, 04:10:26 pm »
greetings peppermint forum

before i posted this, i did some research on my own, but i couldnt find a solution

im trying to connect my  bluetooth headset to my pc and everytime i click on the bluetooth manager, i get this error message:

Bluez daemon is not running, blueman-manager cannot continue.
This probably means that there were no Bluetooth adapters detected or Bluetooth daemon was not started

im running peppermint os 8

and my pc specs are:
Dell Latitude E6410 14.1" Standard Laptop - Intel Core i7 620M 1st Gen 2.67 GHz 8GB SODIMM DDR3 SATA 2.5" 320GB DVD-RW Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit

any help would be appreciated

thanks
man no thy self.....

Don't remember having any trouble on my Peppermint 7, but had to do the following on my daughter's Bodhi system;

Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install bluez pulseaudio-module-bluetooth

Code: [Select]
service bluetooth restart

Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install blueman

Reboot after this. Make sure vlc is sending the output to bluetooth and not to the speakers.

Good luck

Reinstalling may help
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install --reinstall blueman bluetooth bluez pulseaudio-module-bluetooth
but if not, do you get any output from:
Code: [Select]
sudo /usr/lib/bluetooth/bluetoothd
and if not, does the bluetooth-manager work now ? (BTW, this won't survive a reboot .. just trying to figure out if the daemon is failing to start or not even attempting to start)

I'm having the same problem as the OP on a Sony Vaio.

I tried this but the error persists:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install --reinstall blueman bluetooth bluez pulseaudio-module-bluetooth

There is no output from:
Code: [Select]
sudo /usr/lib/bluetooth/bluetoothd
But this process keeps going, that is, if I try to close the terminal I get a message saying "There are running processes".

So when you try to fire up bluetooth manager, you're getting this error

Quote
Bluez daemon is not running, blueman-manager cannot continue.
This probably means that there were no Bluetooth adapters detected or Bluetooth daemon was not started

If you run:
Code: [Select]
blueman-applet
and leave that terminal open, are you now able to start the Bluetooth manager from the menu ?

Try reinstalling bluez/bluez-obex/python-bluez
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install --reinstall bluez bluez-obex python-bluez
if it still errors out, what's the output from:
Code: [Select]
rfkill list
?

Can you run:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install bluez-tools
then post the output from:
Code: [Select]
bt-adapter -l
and
Code: [Select]
sudo lspci -vnn | grep -i net

bt-adapter -l

The output is
Code: [Select]

Also ran
Code: [Select]
sudo lspci -vnn | grep -i net

Here's the output

Are you sure this E6410 has a bluetooth adapter card fitted ?

See here for how to use the diagnostics utility to check:
