New Install on prior laptop; Graphics fix (Solved)
« on: August 04, 2017, 11:02:48 pm »
This laptop. I thought it was dead and I would like to fix the stretched graphics on the screen. The desktop slides when I need the top or bottom of the screen. These are SiS drivers so i know what that means by now. I looked up my prior posts on this topic and the link found in a Ubuntu Forum no longer works. I also did not think to save anything that I got from it.

$ inxi -G
Code: [Select]
Graphics:  Card: Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] 661/741/760 PCI/AGP or 662/761Gx PCIE VGA Display Adapter
           X.Org: 1.16.0 driver: vesa Resolution: 1280x768@61.0hz
           GLX Renderer: Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 3.5, 128 bits) GLX Version: 3.0 Mesa 10.3.2

The old Peppermint post is here:  https://forum.peppermintos.com/index.php/topic,3337.msg33250.html#msg33250
The Ubuntu post is here:  https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2060174
The dead link is here: http://www.winischhofer.net/linuxsispart1.shtml#notbabble

It seems like at one time one of you guys gave me a xorg config at one point. I managed to save a file xorg.conf.bac in my dropbox it would be amazing if that is what I need. I can't remember what to do with it and i just searched for xorg posts. I did not find anything related to this any thing that I have posted.

The xorg edit that I have is here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8gxreajg0en6ily/xorg.conf.bac?dl=0

Thanx guys. That this laptop runs at all is high praise to Peppermint Linux!

Not sure what you're asking here ?

Is it where to put the xorg.conf file ? .. if so it needs to go in the
/etc/X11/xorg
directory.

As can be seen here:

I guess I was asking a number of things in that post but you probably just answered all of them. If so I will mark this solved.
