Window roll down [solved]
« on: July 19, 2017, 04:22:35 pm »
Hi.

Just installed Peppermint 8 on a old laptop, and found the feature window roll up/down very  nice feature - can have terminal laying in just a slim line upon the web browser  :)

But - as a new user of this lovely OS, I found one annoying thing - When I have a rolled-up window (always on top), I have it there because I want to be able to quickly access that window. But in order to do that I need to click at the window-menu-button (please correct me at names because I'm familiar to ms windows), then wait for window menu to appear, and then I find the Roll-down item.

Why isn't it there a button for roll-up/down at top of the window instead? That way, it takes less time to find it. Or is there another way around?

Thanks

Hi Sprinterdriver, how's it going  ;)?  I like to do the same as you.  The solution is really easy.  You use your mouse's scroll wheel.  To activate this, navigate to:

menu > Favourites > Peppermint Settings Panel > Peppermint Control Center

Under the Advanced tab, scroll down to the subsection titled: Accessibility.  At the bottom of the list, check the Scroll on title bar to roll up the window.  Close the Peppermint Control Center.  You'll now be able to roll your window up and down using the scroll wheel on your mouse.  I hope this helps - have fun  ;).
Backup! Backup! Backup! If you're missing any of these -  you ain't Backed Up!

It should be like that by default.

Just place your cursor on the titlebar, then scroll up to roll the window up, or scroll down to roll the window down.
(can be done with either the mouse scroll wheel or the trackpad scrolling action)

But if you'd prefer a button on the titlebar we can do that too .. just ask ;)

Thanks a lot, that is a really cool feature  8)

That is just things I don't know, is there a FAQ (or whatever it might be called) somewhere? - because I have a feeling there is more features about Peppermint  :D

Just one more question relevant to this post. When I roll up a window, I want it to automatic go into Always on top. Can this be done too?

Ok - is there a hotkey to enable/disable window always on top?

Yes, Alt+F12 toggles window-on-top mode, thank you  ;D

Now that I know the use of mouse wheel and Alt+F12 I beleive I can have a pretty nice workflow using Peppermint OS  :)

Call this one solved now.

We can add the "shade" button to the window titlebar if you're like ?
