A quick question for PCNetSpec,  ;)

Currently on Firefox 54.0 and there has been an update released by Mozilla to 54.0.1 but nothing has come thru mint-updater within PM7.
see below:
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/54.0.1/releasenotes/

Why hasn't there been an update via the mint-updater within PM7 although it has been released for over a week on Windowz?

Thanks in advance

Because it hasn't been added to the upstream repos yet.

You can either:-

a) wait for it to come through as an update from upstream
or
b) install it manually
https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/54.0.1/

Personally I'd just wait.

Well I must say that because 54.0.1 contains a Linux specific bugfix I'm also a little surprised by the slowness upstream

Firefox 54 is the latest version in the Ubuntu 16.04 repositories .. we do not host our own copy of packages that diverge from upstream unless there's a clear necessity to do so.

You can see the version in the upstream repos here:
https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?suite=xenial-updates&searchon=names&keywords=firefox

If you're REALLY in a hurry to have the latest Firefox (usually within hours of Mozilla releasing it), you can add the staging PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-mozilla-security/+archive/ubuntu/ppa
but I wouldn't advise it unless you're willing to deal with any possible bugs .. it's in there for testing for a reason ;)

firefox is already the newest version (56.0+build6-0ubuntu0.16.04.2).

Is it just me or Peppermint 8 is holding on Firefox 56?

No, both PM7 and PM8 should be on FF57 now (and have been for a week or two)  :-\

Must be the 'br' mirror you're using.

I've never thought about it, because I have other *buntus 16.04 installed, all with the same local repo. It was only in PP8 that Firfox got stuck on 56. Nevermind, everything back to normal! Thank you!
