Rotate / Flip / Invert Display
« on: June 30, 2014, 08:20:58 pm »
can anyone assist me in flipping the display in Peppermint 5?  I'm using a asus eee pc T91MT and am going to mount it under a kitchen cabinet.  I need to display to be upside down.

I tried xrandr and I can get the mouse orientation for the track pad to be inverted but the actual display is not.

Thanks in advance!!!

in xrandr you'd just add the
--rotate inverted
option

But the easiest way I've found for doing this is to install arandr:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt install arandr
then go to
menu > Preferences > ARandR

configure the monitor how you wish:
Outputs > <Your Screen> > Orientation > Inverted
then save the layout somewhere.:
Layout > Save As

that will create a script that you can autostart that contains the xrandr command you want.
(open it in a text editor if you want to see the xrandr command)

Thanks for the reply.   I was using the full command.  I installed and tried arandr and I have the same results.   The muse pointer gets flipped but the display is the same orientation

I think you think I know more than I actually do. :)   This netbook was installed with Peppermint 5 off a USB stick.  I assumed it was installed then

Intel GMA500 (Poulsbo) drivers have always been a PITA in Linux .. they're licensed to Intel by Imagination Tech who own the PowerVR technology and they won't release Linux drivers so it was left to the community to devlope some drivers that "kinda" work.

Apparently "rotate" isn't implimented in the open source drivers:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72555

So I think you're stuck :(

Well at least I know it's not user error. :-)
