Yeah, they had a pretty nice write-up there.  It looks like the reviewer had some issues with the display settings and VB, but they were eventually solved.  (one reason I don't really care for VB)  I like that they tend to get the point with their reviews.  While the OS does come ICE, it's also a great OS out of the box with minimal software installed, which is exactly why I've been running it all these years.  :D

I disagree there's no way to differentiate SSB's though .. the tooltips (when hovering over a menu item) in the whiskermenu clearly state they're an "(Ice SSB)" where they are.

I mean I'd think it'd annoy the heck out of people if ICE automagically appended "webapp" to the name THEY chose to give it in ICE ???

Yeah, that makes no sense.  Besides, you can go into ICE and see a list of what it has installed.  I think someone even pointed that out in the comments.

Besides, the only way that would be an issue is if you're in a situation without internet.  If you have a connection and you open an ICE app, it opens normally anyway.

But, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.  And that's all reviews are, opinions.

But, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Erm, not when talking about Peppermint :))

[EDIT]

Okay:-

Quote
Which software is run locally and which is run through a web browser is not clear and some experimenting is required to discover the items that run on-line.

may not actually be factually incorrect .. but I'm not sure the semi-proposed solution wouldn't just annoy people.

In fact I'm of the opinion that only people who are dead set against SSB's for whatever reason would care one way or the other.

It just got to me a tiny bit because I added the tooltip appendix in PM8's ICE precisely to address this (non)issue .. problem is I can't see a better way of differentiating them without going OTT ;)

Jesse's a great guy and I'd never slag off his reviews .. just pointing out I'd already attempted to deal with this as best I could.

I must say that the "Reader Reviews" gave me a warm fuzzy feeling though:

and it's those that are the most important to me :)
