How many hundreds of thousands of inodes does a 320 gb disk hold anyway?

Well "df -i" and "df -h" inform me that my 192GB partition has 12,779,520 inodes, so I'd presume (all thing being equal) it'd be somewhere around the 21,299,200 mark for a 320GB partition, so just short of 213.

Or put another way .. LOTS :))

Windoze wrecked an external USB drive of mine by the way it disconnected it when I put the system in suspend. It constantly had more and more errors until it eventually died.

May have been a good idea .. if it took hours to fix 300,000, it would have been days fixing just 19.5 million :o

went back into liveUSB to retrieve this:

Code: [Select]
peppermint@peppermint ~ $ sudo fsck /dev/sde1
fsck from util-linux 2.27.1
e2fsck 1.42.13 (17-May-2015)
SG320: clean, 11/19537920 files, 1275064/78142550 blocks
