getting my backups done, prepping for peppermintOS 5 ...
« on: June 30, 2014, 11:48:48 am »
Life's been a wee bit hectic... dunno how i missed the release of 5 until today... double checking that I've got all my backups done... and reviewing some of the recent posts before diving in...

Guess I've an afternoon project on my hands... just as well... as its climbing over 108 again today here in The Sonoran Desert...

Thanks for giving it a whirl. Also, I moved your topic into the discussion area as it's not a support question.

Yes sir. We're strongly advising against any attempts to upgrade from Peppermint Four.

It's a scorcher today.  Still climbing, too...

Good luck with your install!

I always recycle my /Home directory, when upgrading, so it's fairly painless.  Not suggesting - just saying...   ;)

Hello Spence.

You've got one of my all-time favorite signatures around.  And it's true, wisdom will come in time.  I just hope it will come to me sooner than later!

Spence with a little personalizaion Peppermint 5 is ever better than Peppermint 4.  This is because Peppermint 5 is based on Ubuntu's 14.04 LTS distribution. (And how I hated to give up Peppermint 4.  Peppermint 4 was, until Peppermint 5, my favorite distro to date -- even without support.  But I now believe Peppermint 5 will prove itself in time to be even better than Peppermint 4.  Peppermint 5 is solid.)

Seriously Spence, first keep yourself cool my friend, and then your computer.   Temperatures that high are deadly.

After you make sure you, and then your computer, are alright, enjoy Peppermint 5.  You're going to love it.   ;)

[T]here are a lot of people happily running Peppermint ICE which hasn't been receiving ANY updates for a while now .. and I personally would STILL consider that MUCH more secure than any version of Windows with up-to-date AV/Anti-malware ;)

Apologies for the belated response perknh... i just really haven't had a reason to come back into the forums in a very long time, Peppermint 5 has been rock solid with nary a hiccup...
