Mouse click speed
« on: April 15, 2017, 10:36:54 am »
:)Being slightly disabled and long in the tooth, I would like to slow down the double click on the mouse. Cant seem to find a setting.
Any help would be appreciated.  ???

Menu > Preferences > Peppermint Control Center

Go to the Keyboard and Pointer tab.  I *think* it's the "Threshold" setting, but I could be wrong.

Edit: Nope, that doesn't do it.  We'll have to get someone else in here to help.  I know it can be done, but I forget how and I have to leave for work in a few minutes.  :(

Try this .. Open a terminal and run:
Code: [Select]
pluma ~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini
and add this new line at the bottom
Code: [Select]
gtk-double-click-time=1000
(I'm pretty sure those are thousandths of a second .. so 1000 = 1 second)
SAVE the file

Log off/on (or reboot), then test.

[EDIT]

Oh, nearly forgot :-[ .. Welcome to the forum pappa :)

Just playing with Peppermint 8 Live before upgrading from 7.  This mouse click mod is necessary for me to make working in Nemo to my liking.  However I had to search for the settings.ini file as it has been moved from  ~/.config/gtk-3.0/ to /etc/gtk-3.0/ in Peppermint 8.  I followed the above instructions to modify the file and saved.  Working Live I could not reboot but logout/login let me test my handiwork (after I had researched how to do a Live login: username=peppermint password=<leave blank>).
Thanks PCNetSpec (and all your other experts) for all your helpful posts and quick responses.  Looking forward to installing Peppermint 8 this weekend!

Yeah the one at:-
/etc/gtk-3.0/settings.ini
only gets copied to:-
~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini
when you actually change something in "Customise look and feel" .. but it then takes priority.

So if you don't currently have one at:-
~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini
you can edit the one at:-
/etc/gtk-3.0/settings.ini
but if you DO have one at:-
~/.config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini
it must be that one you edit (or both).

Hope that made sense ?
