By Acadianlion September 20 2016 03:53 PDTMy wife's computer is or has failed. As far as I can tell only one memory slot is working. The Machine is a Dell Optiplex 320 (or some such) and it should have 4 gigs of memory. It's slowwwwwwwww....running Windows 7. I have been about ready to rush out and buy a new-to-us, refurbished something or other running Windows 10. The sales person at the refurbishing store (where we bought all the other computers we own) strongly suggested Peppermint. I've been reading and am intrigued, so here is what I have decided to do. First of all, I have a Dell 5150 with XP...my old computer retired when I bought my "newer" Dell with Windows 7. I have decided to download Linux Peppermint on the old machine to try it out before suggesting to my wife that she try a different operating system. My wife is NOT particularly computer literate nor is she patient with such things at her 72 years of age. My issue is that I cannot get the old Windows computer to connect and download. I can open MSN and from Windows Explorer can access the site, but nothing happens when I try to download. The old machine has been sitting for more than two years, Why?
