(I am the one asking for CapsLock/ShiftKey code, it is still awaiting my re-try; I also got into trouble with Chromium syncing with Chrome on my other laptops so I have reinstalled Peppermint and am starting again - that's just in case that kind Veteran wonders what the heck I'm up to!)

Have tried to install Dropbox 3 times, it loads 100% and just sits there.  I have found this thread and attempted to follow the instructions BUT:

Enter first line OK, then enter 2nd line and am asked for password.  I type but nothing appears, used up 3 attempts started again.  At the password stage I pretended that what I typed had entered, but then got the response "dropbox.py doesn't exist" (or similar).

I tried the red "FIX RELEASED" but it is not an active link for me.

It's laborious, this Linux lark ;)

Hi clemenzina, how's it going.  For security, passwords entered into the terminal window are hidden.  There is NO indication that you are entering anything into the command line.  Enter your user password, (the one you created at setup) and hit enter.  You get three attempts.  If you can't get passed this stage, it indicates you are entering the password incorrectly.  Linux is case sensitive.  Passwords and commands must be accurate. For example MyPassWord is different from mypasswordAccuracy is of paramount importance for all terminal entries - no pretending needed   :D.

To reduce typographical errors while entering commands from the forum into the terminal.  Click on, Code: [Select] located at the top left hand side of the code line to highlight contents.  Centre click on your mouse while in the terminal to the paste contents.  This way assures accuracy.  I hope this help  ;)!

The red "FIX RELEASED" is not a link .. it was just an edit to tell people that the fix was released as a system update.....

All you need to do is a full system update

menu > System Tools > Software Updater

accept the updates .. reboot (as you'll no doubt get a kernel update too) .. try dropbox again.

Oh!  I thought my system was up-to-date as I accepted the suggestion to install updates during the installation of Peppermint.

Anyway, it worked like a charm, thank you.

AndyInMokum  Accuracy is second nature to me but I'm working in very uncomfortable circumstances and with an unfamiliar, tiny keyboard (besides the CapsLock problem), so I accept that I might be more error prone than usual.  I do C&P everything into Terminal.

So! Terminal doesn't reveal passwords - duh! ;)   Thank you, too!

I shall be back asking silly questions about joining a Windows network soon :)

Good morning clemenzina, that's great news  8)!  There are no "silly" questions here.  They're all important.  So don't be shy  :D!!

PS: With a handle like yours, you must try the Clementine audio player  :D.
