Does anyone know of a 32bit Skype for linux? [SOLVED]
« on: June 08, 2017, 02:02:53 am »
Does anyone know of a 32-bit Skype for linux (Pepperment/Unbuntu) post 4.3?

I read that Skype 4.3 is due to be retired 1st July .

'Important notice: All Skype for Linux clients version 4.3 and older will be retired on July 1, 2017. To keep chatting, please install the latest version of Skype for Linux.'

So far I can't find anything.

Is there any alternate to Skype on linux that will communicate with Skype users?

Hi Sokretes!

Skype does not support 32bits any longer.
If you want to keep using it, you could create a SSB with Ice and use it live.
Otherwise, maybe someone else here knows about a similar application that supports 32bits

Ok ..thanks.. Not the 'End of the world' but, to have access  to Skype on my 32-bit Netbook would be nice. Maybe the Skype team will wakeup and see that 32-bit computers are still used!

They support 32bits on Windows only...
For Linux only the 64bits! Why?

As pmppinho suggests, Skype won't be doing a 32bit client for Linux .. in fact they don't even really do a 64bit "client" any more, just a wrapper for their web UI that "looks" like a client.

So creating an ICE SSB to their web UI:
https://login.skype.com/login
should pretty much give you the same thing
WARNING: You are logged into reality as 'root' .. logging in as 'insane' is the only safe option.
