Hey Team peppermint -

I currently have PM7-Respin.  Is it possible to just do an in-place upgrade straight to PM8, or do I need to wipe out my PM7 box and start all over again with a new install of PM8?  Thanks for all your work, PM is THEEEEEEEEE BEST linux distro on the planet (and I've tried/used a bunch of them)

Sorry techmonster, there's currently no easy way to "upgrade".

We're looking into this for Peppermint 9 --> 10 but there won't be an upgrade path from 8 --> 9 either I'm afraid.

Theoretically it would be possible to "upgrade" 7 --> 8 but it would have to be a manual process which I haven't had time to test and write up yet and I can't even promise I'll ever get the time.

Sorry, but for now at least it would need to be a fresh install .. we even STRONGLY advise you don't attempt to keep a home folder/partition between 7 and 8 because some of the config files it contains will conflict.

Thanks for the update PCNetSpec.  No biggie, really.  I've reinstalled linux distros many, many times and, along as you back up your data to another hard drive (I use Luckybackup for backing up to a second HDD on a daily basis anyway, plus SpiderOak for cloud backups), it's a pretty painless process (at least 1/100th of the difficulty of messing around with any MS or Mac OS  ;D ).

Keep on rockin on guys, you're all the best!

Cheers!
