(Solved) Applets missing in i3 bar.
« on: May 20, 2017, 10:32:17 am »
I have installed i3 on a new PeppermintOS install. Unfortunately I am unable to get the applets to appear in the i3 bar at login. I have followed the documentation and ensured that the tray_output is set to "primary".
Code: [Select]
# show tray icons on the primary monitor
bar {
    tray_output primary
}
The documentation also suggests to run
Code: [Select]
xrandr --output <output> --primaryIn my case
Code: [Select]
xrandr --output  LVDS1 --primaryUnfortunately, still no applets... Any ideas?

Well, I solved this, but am not sure why. I decided to re-install the latest PeppermintOS to make sure there wasn't a problem with the install. Next, I installed all of the necessary i3 bits, including i3blocks. Lastly I replaced the default command with this command that MicrowattOS uses in its i3 config file:
Code: [Select]
status_command i3blocksJust to clarify, the above command replaces the very last command in the PeppermintOS i3 .config file. Then your applets will dock properly.

Your profile shows that you're running Peppermint 6, while you say you've installed Peppermint 7 now. Maybe that could account for the difference.
