Mouse focus
« on: April 30, 2017, 05:46:44 pm »
Hello, a feature that I am finding very annoying in Peppermint 7 is that I have to make sure my mouse arrow is on the application in the foreground (Libre writer, text editor, browser) before my keyboard is able to type on it. In other distros particularly mint it did not make any difference which part of the desktop my mouse arrow was resting. I could type away on the app in the foreground. I hope i made myself clear. The only other way would be to upload a link to video clip.

Hope someone can find a way around this.

I forgot to ask, is this a laptop, netbook or a desktop PC?

It is a high performance notebook. Intel i7 with Nvidia 280M GTX.

I have had no such problems on Mint 18.1 so am not very convinced it is a hardware issue. But I can try the input devices on another desktop running Mint. Will report back when I get the chance tomorrow.

Hi siawacsh, how's it going?  Navigate to: menu > Preferences > Peppermint Control Center.  Under the: Window Manager tab, make sure under the sub-heading: Focus model the Click to focus option is ticked/checked.  This should allow you to type into the foreground window.  It should be ticked/checked, by default.  I hope this helps  ;).

Right click on the menu icon.  From the drop down/popup menu, select: Properties.  In the new window,  you'll find under the sub-heading: Menu the: Background opacity slider.  Adjust it to your desired transparency and click on XClose.  I hope this helps  ;).

Hello Andy, when I right click on the whisker menu I can see properties but NOT the menu sub-heading.
