Since the launch of Windows 10, there has been widespread concern about its data collection practices, mostly because Microsoft has been very secretive about the telemetry data it collects.

Now, this is going to be changed, as Microsoft wants to be more transparent on its diagnostics data collection practices.

So people are alright with this
https://technet.microsoft.com/itpro/windows/configure/windows-diagnostic-data
 :o

Though it still seems they're painting it with very B-R-O-A-D terminology .. that scares the living bejezzus outa me.

For example:-
Quote from:  from "App usage" section
User navigation and interaction with app and Windows features. This could potentially include user input, such as name of a new alarm set, user menu choices, or user favorites.
(my highlights)

I'll give them props for admitting it .. but "good god".

Far from making me feel less worried, it seems to completely confirm everyone's worst case speculation that it's capable of collecting EVERYTHING at least at default settings .. and who knows if it honours the "Basic" settings, just the fact it's CAPABLE scares the living cr*p outa me.

And that's ignoring the potential security issues if this is ever hacked.

Translation:  People still aren't going for Windows 10, despite having it practically shoved down their throats, so Microsoft hopes that revealing what all it collects will allay peoples' fears enough to get them to migrate to the giant polished turd.

That's utterly incredible it would be easier for them to list what they're not downloading,

but what is even worse if you showed that to a Windows user they'd say  SO !

Linux user:  Microsoft is downloading everything, including your key strokes from you.
Windows user:  Yeah, but I need Windows.

not much you can do about it is there, I for one have to use windows daily because there are no linux versions of like 6 programs that I need for my business...  however I will never use windows 10...  and when windows 7 reaches the point of death I will unplug my wifi and continue to use it daily offline for my business work...

In my experience they say "Hmm that's bad", then promptly log onto Facebook to watch their "friends" latest cat video and push it to the back of their minds where it gets lost in all the other fluff.

It's not that it wouldn't bother them if they had a long enough attention span, it's that it never "sinks in" beyond superficially.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying all "Windows users" are like this but the ones where it sinks in in a meaningful way tend to be sticking with 7/8.1 (and probably don't have Facebook accounts).

Run CurrPorts Portable (download almost at the bottom of the page) on Windows 10 and set it to "Log changes". Do some research after a night of logging while not using the OS, draw your own conclusions. You really don't need M$ to say what they do or don't...

My conclusion:   Windows 10 is Adware and Spyware!

Disclaimer: GNULINUX is a known Windows 10 hater... but it's an informed/funded opinion...  ;)

I agree with that.  In fact, I'm pretty sure I've been saying that since before it was released.  ;)

I too concur!  My own solution the past few years is to just say NO to Ma¢ro $loth Windoze.

If it wasn't for 2 programs I wouldn't use windows 10 at all.

One is a mmo it's almost playable on playon linux, the other is for work website, it won't work in Chrome in linux only on Microsoft edge.  >:(
