IRQ issues
« on: November 17, 2018, 04:14:33 am »
I have had IRQ issues going on for a while. With games crashing other things. I have finally figured out that these crashes are really problems with some hardware mainly a wireless mouse and wireless game controller but just now I also have my HDMI port also reporting a firmware bug in the logs. I really enjoy these wireless devices but first I need to try and figure out this HDMI thing. I use the HDMI out to my TV a lot as of late.

Here are the logs where I searched for HDMI and the Wireless mouse also looked troublesome. I do not know for sure if the mouse is a problem on its own, but I do use it at about the same time as my wireless game controller.

What makes you suspect IRQ issues ?

Because the OS stalls or sleeps with out any recovery options as I have described in my other threads. This is the result of my looking or attempting to look at the logs as you requested some time ago.

In the portion of the syslog pertaining to the HDMI a bug appears to be a mentioned.

Just now however on this fresh install it crashed and I don't have any of those devices plugged in. It has not done this before...

The history of these failures doesn't seem like this most recent crash. I don't know why in the end.

I know that those are pitchers from a LIVE instance. This one was harder to get and is not as clear.

Can we have the full output from
Code: [Select]
inxi -Fz
and the output from
Code: [Select]
dmesg | grep -i irq
Is it ONLY games that crash the system ?

And when the system crashes, are you able to recover if you hit Ctrl+Alt+F2 (to drop to a console) .. log on in text mode .. then run:
Code: [Select]
sudo service lightdm restart
?

No sorry it is not just the games that crash the system. I usually am playing Hulu streams with with my HDMI out port. I have not been able to drop to a shell prompt after a crash for some time. When I was able to do that I was not using the HDMI.

And when the system crashes, are you able to recover if you hit Ctrl+Alt+F2 (to drop to a console) .. log on in text mode .. then run:
Code: [Select]
sudo service lightdm restart
?

I am unsure what to do with this. This looks like code you are requesting in the event of a crash which I hopefully will be able to recover by dropping to a prompt and running that command.

For that all I can say is I will try. Up until now I have not been able to recover at all when I am using HDMI.

OK this just happened. I was watching Hulu via HDMI out as I have been doing lately. The system crashed as I have been describing. I did forget to try to drop to a prompt but as I say that has failed before. When the system crashed I checked the time and it was 5:23Am by my watch. So I looked for that time in the log, the closest I got was 5:25. I then searched for Firefox because I have made an ICE hulu application with Firefox. But then the system crashed while posting this. I copied and pasted as much of the file as I could. Regards
