Hi penrose1950,

What weather indicator app are you using?

The most obvious thing would be to leave "auto location" unticked, but I guess it was already obvious so if not that...  :-\

Just installed it and I think you're doing not bad considering Enfield is in London.

My nearest city is 35 miles away and that's the closest place I can get it to recognise.

Hi penrose1950,

I think murraymint is right

unless you have some sort of GPS/location co-ordinates on your computer, even location settings will take it from where your ISP IP originates and or the nearest weather station. Does Enfield Town have a Weather Station and can this application point to it.

when you searched for Enfield and it gave you City of London - did you scroll the map to find Enfield Town and double click on it, in the map ?

Because I have been able to choose and display my home town and its only a small town in Kent...

Hmm, I've tried that. Double-clicking just zooms in further and further on the map for me. If I single-click on a place it puts a "pin" in the map but I don't think it selects it as the location. How could I check?

It's either defaulting to a random place dozens of miles from here, or to the Atlantic Ocean below Accra if I go to the forecast map. Pretty useless either way.

Single click you are right.  When you click OK in preferences and then single click on the weather Icon to drop down the info, mine says the name of my town now.

OK after I quit and restarted the app it had a location set, but not the one I wanted. It seems quite fussy or maybe I'm missing something here.

I set my own coordinates in ~/.config/my-weather-indicator/my-weather-indicator.conf

Now the forecast map opens on the right centre point but I don't get any weather info (don't think I've had any yet while tinkering with it).

I removed it as well. I got weather by using the Yahoo server, but then I was located back in the Atlantic Ocean again.
