Does this help?

https://www.howtogeek.com/235655/how-to-mount-and-use-an-exfat-drive-on-linux/

not at all... its a SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Card with adapter.... being pulled out of a Samsung Android phone to transfer the photo gallery back to a harddrive.

Code: [Select]
spence@antec ~ $ sudo mkdir /media/exfat
[sudo] password for spence:
spence@antec ~ $ sudo mount -t exfat /dev/sdc1 /media/exfat
FUSE exfat 1.2.3
ERROR: failed to open '/dev/sdc1': No such file or directory.

Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install exfat-fuse exfat-utils
now unplug the drive, and replug it.

Now open file manager, and see if it's available in the left hand pane ?

Once exfat support is added with the command above, it should work like any other SDcard/USB stick .. just plug it in and it becomes available in the file manager.

But in any case, to manually mount it from the command line you should have modified the commands from murraymint's link to:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install exfat-fuse exfat-utils
sudo mkdir -p /media/spence/3231-3331
sudo mount -t exfat /dev/mmcblk0p1 /media/spence/3231-3331

While the Antec machine does detect & read other several SDCards we own, it fails to detect or notice the insertion of this one at all. Moving it over to the hpG6 laptop,
the card is detected but throws up the error message. After using...
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install exfat-fuse exfat-utils
the hpG6 detects and reads the card without having to remove/reinsert...  dunno why Antec doesn't detect...  :-\

There was a typo in that mount command, an extra "/dev" so you had "/dev//dev"

Ooops .. typo fixed here:

thanks murraymint :)

@spence
if the Antec isn't detecting the card .. remove the card .. wait 5 seconds .. reinsert the card .. post the output from:
Code: [Select]
dmesg | tail -n 50
WARNING: You are logged into reality as 'root' .. logging in as 'insane' is the only safe option.

Are you confusing matters again by posting output from 2 different computers ?

if its device node on this computer is not

/dev/mmcblk0p1

as it was in your first post, then with it plugged in what's the output from:
Code: [Select]
sudo fdisk -l

the problem was on both computers... thus the mixed output... but i'm letting this one go as too much hassle, seeing as i can simply plug in the usb cord and transfer files that way...
