Problem Installing Peppermint 5 - SOLVED
« on: June 25, 2014, 04:18:47 pm »
I just installed Peppermint 5 beside of Windows XP.  When I restarted I got this error:
error: symbol 'grub-term-highlight_color' not found.
grub rescue>

Please advise what I need to do to fix this problem.  Thanks.

OK, this may be something left over from a previous version of GRUB .. did you have a previous version of Linux installed next to Windows ?

Can you boot to the Peppermint LiveCD/LiveUSB, and post the output from:
Code: [Select]
sudo fdisk -l

After working on the problem for several hours last night, I have fixed the problem.  In the end, I booted to the Peppermint Live USB and downloaded boot-repair from Ubuntu.  I ran it and it fixed the problem automatically and everything works fine now.  That program is really awesome.  Thank you.  Jeff S.
