Microphone problem [Solved]
« on: February 07, 2017, 08:37:38 pm »
Hi all and thanks in advance for any and all assistance!

I have installed skype and can make a call but the recipient is unable to hear me :(.

I have followed the recommendations of using alsamixer controls without any success https://forum.peppermintos.com/index.php/topic,840.msg9978.html#msg9978 .

Note that the microphone is detected on the “Input Devices” tab and the VU meter does show acitivity when I make a noise.

Click on the volume icon at the right of the panel and choose Audio Mixer. Go to the Configuration tab and check that your Built-in Audio is set to something that includes "Input", and that no other dropdown menus are set to an input option, ideally.

Now go to the next tab along (Input devices). You should see your mic there with a level meter moving when you make a sound. Hopefully Skype will now pick up your mic.

I take it you've tried simply turning up the input volume ?

Does the mic work in any other app ?

Thanks for resolving my issue :). I would like to ask how can I remove a duplicated files icon from the menu?

I have two icons for "Files" (access and organise files) located  within the menu.

These are the respective outputs:

That would be because you appear to have installed the nautilus file manager as well as the default nemo.

Do you want to get rid if nautilus ?

If so, please post the output from:
Code: [Select]
dpkg -l | grep -i nautilus
