Would you believe I hadn't noticed :)

Keep us updated will you .. if say Google release a bug fix update to 56 (not that I've ever seen them do that).

[EDIT]

Now that I've checked, I can't say I'm seeing small fonts anywhere in 56

Will do.

I might as well copy n' paste the comment(s) I made in the Chromium bugs ...

Quote
Have the same problem on my Dell UltraSharp U2913WM 29-Inch Ultra Widescreen display, 2560x1080 resolution (HDMI input).  The small UI fonts started on January 30th, 2017, immediately after I upgrading from Chromium 55.0.2883.87-0ubuntu0.16.04.1263 to Chromium 56.0.2924.76-0ubuntu0.16.04.1266

If I drag the Chromium window(s) to one of my 19-Inch Dell Displays, 1280x1024 resolution (VGA and/or DVI inputs) the UI fonts appear 'normal' sized.  Drag Chromium back to the 29-inch Ultrawide and the UI fonts become so small you can barely read them.

Zoom works normally on all displays - all resolutions - all inputs. It's just the UI fonts that don't scale properly.

The problem area(s) exist in font size on anything to do with the Chromium App UI - the text on their tabs, the bookmarks in their bookmark bar, the Chromium menus, their settings page, and so forth, and so on.  The fonts on web pages are controlled by the web sites themselves, and look fine.

And, I'm only having the UI text problem on my Dell 29-inch Ultra Widescreen monitor.  The UI text in Chromium 56 looks fine on my Dell 19-inch displays, my Dell laptop, et cetera.

My best guess is, the problem is with HD displays and/or monitors that are using HDMI for the input.

I downgraded to Chromium 55 and ...

After studying the (above) comments, I decided to downgrade (and pin) Chromium to ver Chromium 55.0.2883.87-0ubuntu0.16.04.1263

Everything is back to 'normal'. YaY !

I'll keep an eye on this discussion, and upgrade Chromium when the problem is fixed.

Happy hunting, and thanks !

Someone screwed the pooch, and they know it.  And, they know it needs to be fixed ASAP or ppl are gonna think it's intentional and switch to Fx or whatever -- so, I think the devs will be putting this on the front burner.

I'll let you know when they fix it.

In the meantime, I've downgraded to Chromium 55 and pinned it in Synaptic and the Peppermint Update Manager.  I suggest others do the same, until they patch the prob.   ;)
