Hi nastak, how's it going?  If you only use WiFi.  Have you tried deleting the default ethernet account?  Right click on the panel WiFi icon and select: Edit Connections....  Highlight the ethernet account and click on ⵝDelete.  Reboot your system and check your WiFI connection.
Backup! Backup! Backup! If you're missing any of these -  you ain't Backed Up!
For my system info please L/click HERE.

Changing the channel in the router shouldn't disconnect anyone .. their wireless adapter should just switch channel.

See if this makes a difference...

run:
Code: [Select]
sudo pluma /etc/modprobe.d/iwlmvm.conf
when a blank file opens, add a single line that reads:-
Code: [Select]
options iwlmvm power_scheme=1
SAVE the file .. REBOOT .. test.

If necessary, you can undo this with:
Code: [Select]
sudo rm -v /etc/modprobe.d/iwlmvm.conf
then reboot

PCNetSpec I tried the last commands but no luck at all. So I removed iwlmvm.conf as you told me. The only difference I saw with that was the value of Power management parameter (on/off). The problem still remains. I also tried: options iwlwifi 11n_disable=8   instead of   1 , but I got quite the same behavior: very slow download speed in a speeddtest. I also tried various channels in my router configuration page and finally I've let it configured automatically as it was initially!

I don't think so  :-\ How do I check this? I mean I don't  see a second profile by clicking on network-manager icon (bottom right). Is this what you mean?

I think that my problem is solved. That's because I rebooted and now everything works fine! In iwlwifi.conf , I have
Code: [Select]
options iwlwifi 11n_disable=8
, and after a recent speed test, I get as output my max download speed!

Well if it's working now, probably best if we stop fiddling :)

But just out of interest, what's the output from:
Code: [Select]
ls -a /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections

Ok :)
Many thanks to all of you for your help! Should I mark the thread as Solved?

The output is:

.   Forthnet-309976                                       Office I8
..  Forthnet-309976-c1e213af-c81a-4dbd-95dc-2949a9474e6e

(Office I8 is the profile at my office - I connect via ethernet)

Might be worth deleting the superfluous profile then:
Code: [Select]
sudo rm -v /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/Forthnet-309976-c1e213af-c81a-4dbd-95dc-2949a9474e6e
Your call.

I deleted it. But the superfluous was the Forthnet-309976  ;)
Fortunately, I backed up the other one before deletion, so now after reboot and testing everything seems OK! Thank you for your help!
