[EDIT]

NO LONGER NECESSARY .. instead install adobe-flashplugin which contains both pepperflash and flashplayer .. see here:
https://forum.peppermintos.com/index.php/topic,4802.msg53995.html#msg53995
for instructions

[END EDIT]

Open a terminal and run these commands in sequence:
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get remove --purge pepperflashplugin-nonfree
then
Code: [Select]
sudo mkdir -p /usr/lib/adobe-pepflashplugin
then
Code: [Select]
cd /usr/lib/adobe-pepflashplugin
then
Code: [Select]
sudo wget --no-check-certificate https://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/labs/flashruntimes/flashplayer/linux64/flash_player_ppapi_linux.x86_64.tar.gz
then
Code: [Select]
sudo tar xvf flash_player_ppapi_linux.x86_64.tar.gz
then
Code: [Select]
sudo pluma /etc/chromium-browser/customizations/01-adobe-pepflashplugin
and make it read:-
Code: [Select]
flashso="/usr/lib/adobe-pepflashplugin/libpepflashplayer.so"
flashjson="/usr/lib/adobe-pepflashplugin/manifest.json"
CHROMIUM_FLAGS="$CHROMIUM_FLAGS --ppapi-flash-path=$flashso --ppapi-flash-version=$(grep version $flashjson | sed 's|.*"version": ||;s|"||g;s|,||')"
SAVE that file, and exit pluma.

Now close ALL running instances of Chromium .. reopen Chromium, and go to:-
chrome://plugins
it should show you're running:-
Quote
Adobe Flash Player - Version: 24.0.0.xxx
Shockwave Flash 24.0 r0
    Name:                Shockwave Flash
    Description:       Shockwave Flash 24.0 r0
    Version:             24.0.0.xxx
    Location:            /usr/lib/adobe-pepflashplugin/libpepflashplayer.so

To UNDO

Open a terminal and run:
Code: [Select]
sudo rm -v /etc/chromium-browser/customizations/01-adobe-pepflashplugin
then
Code: [Select]
sudo rm -rv /usr/lib/adobe-pepflashplugin
then restart Chromium

Will this procedure mess up the flash plugin for Chrome if you want to use both Chromium and Chrome?

NO it won't interfere with Chrome's pepperflash, but the procedure above is now outdated.

The instruction below should now also work for 32bit Chromium too.

The best way to get pepperflash for Chromium now would be to run these commands in sequence
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get remove --purge pepperflashplugin-nonfree  flashplugin-installer
then
Code: [Select]
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:peppermintos/p7-pepperflash
then
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get update
then
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash bunsen-pepperflash
Now close ALL Chromium browser instances and reopen one.

Now go here:
http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/
or here:
https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html

and check it says:-
You have version 24,0,0,221 installed

You MAY have to go here in Chromium:
chrome://plugins/
and make sure there's a tick in the "Always allowed to run" box:-

Thank you very much! It works! BTW, the reason I have installed Chromium is because Chrome of late is functioning a little funny with Facebook : when clicking  on a new post window, it will crowd up the space for the new message by different add-on buttons - photos, emoticons, etc. I notice Firefox does not have this glitch, but I am so accustomed to Chrome, so decided to try out Chromium...

still I have noticed Chromium won't play some videos on vimeo and some other flash vids, while Firefox has no problem.  What can be done about that?

That vimeo video is working for me in Chromium :-\ .. is it working for anyone else ?
(audio is naff on it, right up until the crowd applauds at the end .. but that's obviously not a Chromium problem)

I tried it in Firefox first, where I had to enable javascript a couple of times before it played.

In Chromium it just works for me.
