howdy, the names ray, aka rayzer. been using various linux distros since 2010, my daily os is debian xfce but also use pep from time to time. hang out also on livestreams like EB's zebs and sudo reboot so some of you may have spoken to me before.
i also like to mess about with the look of distros and occasionally tweak desktops like lxde, xfce and jwm for example as well as making wallpapers, icons etc.

Hello All,

My name is Jon, and I thought I would sign up for the forum since I'm probably going to be asking for help. I'm completely new to Linux. One of the main reasons I'm using Linux now is because I am studying cybersecurity in school, and getting experience helps. As for Peppermint, I was looking for a distro that would help me get my feet wet, and I saw some good reviews for Peppermint. What really clinched it was seeing the extremely helpful installation guide, and the forums.

So far, I am pleased with how Peppermint has been running. I installed it on a 10 year old laptop and it basically works like new. I look forward to posting here and using Peppermint going forward.

 :D

Hi jonOFLA, welcome to the Peppermint Forum, it's nice to meet you  :).  Ask as many questions as want, this is what the forum is for.  We were all in the exact same position you're in now.  We know what it's like   ;D.  Use the Search feature in the menu bar.  Many times, a solution is already available.  Also check out the: Official Tutorials and the User Submitted Tutorials.  There's loads of really cool stuff to think about in those pages.  Mainly, don't be shy to use the forum.  The gang here are always delighted to help out  ;).

Welcome Aboard @JonOfLA, @rayzer & @hxcdk... bit behind on my welcomes here! I originally found linux when casting about for a way to keep an old but expensive laptop alive. PeppermintOne delivered another 6 years of life when I installed it back in 2010. I'm about to release two more elder laptops into the freecycling universe. Peppermint 9 keeps them running, but they are now too old to be useful to my evolving needs.

Welcome again and remember we're all here to answer questions.

Me too, guys!  Welcome JonOfLA and welcome rayzer.  Peppermint is certainly one of the best discoveries I ever made while surfing the web several years ago.  I hope you guys end up enjoying Peppermint every bit as much as I have.  Welcome! :)

Hello everybody,

my name is Adam, I am from Slovakia, so I appologise for any mistakes that I will make.
I am using linux for nearly two years, switched from windows, because of performance problems and updates.
Peppermint is my fourth distro that I have used, after Linux Mint, Ubuntu and Ubuntu Budgie, and I really like it.
I have not experienced any serious bug, unlike in the other distros that I used, and the look in my opinion is just awesome.

Many thanks to all developers.

PS:Theese emoticons are super. :D
