Sound Problems with Saints Row
« on: December 24, 2016, 03:25:03 am »
Hey everyone, I'm new to the forums, I'll be doing an introductory post but before I do I need a little help getting my sound to work on Saints Row. I've just purchased all of the games on Steam because of the winter sale and I'd love to play them but for whatever reason, I'm not able to change my audio device for the game to my headset. This only happens with Saints Row and not any of my other games however strangely, Saints Row 2 uses the ALSA plugin and works just fine the others do not. So if anyone could help me out or knows why this is happening, I'd much appreciate it.  :(

If it's using ALSA as opposed to puleaudio .. have you tried running:
Code: [Select]
alsamixerin a terminal and making sure the headphones are enabled/selected ?

Oh, and welcome to the nuthouse forum Neurospectral :)

Hey thanks for response. I just gave that a shot however I'm not sure how to view the currently selected device. And only Saints Row 2 uses the ALSA plugin, the rest are using PulseAudio. I guess because it's an older game maybe.

F6 to select a device in Alsamixer, then do you see a "fader" control(s) once you select the device? Press the arrow keys to select the fader, then the up arrow if its volume is down (mute/0).
