[solved] external monitor > offed screen
« on: December 20, 2016, 04:21:19 pm »
Hello,

I've tested an external monitor with my laptop's VGA out, set it up as primary display and turned off the laptop screen. Turned off the laptop with those settings. Removed the external monitor (I no longer have it in my posession, neither do I have any other external monitor at hand) and the laptop screen is just off! OS is obviously up and running, but as soon as the dm kicks in, the screen goes all dark. How do I revert this, reenable the laptop screen? I can login and type in commands but I don't get to X.

thanks

Nevermind, solved.

Blindfolded, I pressed ctrl-alt-t to open terminal, and typed
Code: [Select]
xrandr --auto
monitor sprang back to life.
