Lost Wireless Icon. (SOLVED)

I am using a Acer Aspire One Cloudbook which has wireless only. The wireless is working fine. The problem is that the wireless icon in the panel next to the update icon has disappeared. How do I get it back?

To help us help you, ALL new requests for technical support should include basic system information.

If you haven't already done so, please open a terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run the following command:
Code: [Select]
inxi -Fzthen copy what was returned in the terminal and post it back here.

This was an automated response but please don't ignore it, providing this information now is highly likely to save time for both you and any prospective respondents and aid in the diagnosis of your problem  .. Thanks in advance :)

Note - Please rest assured there is nothing in the output from that command that could be construed as a 'security risk', the '-z' option makes sure of that by filtering out your MAC address.

If you're not sure how to run the above command or how to post the output back here, please see the video tutorial at the link below:

The icon changed to a wired icon..

The first command returned;
[1] 4809

No icon in the panel.

The second command returned:
[1]+  Done                    nm-applet

and the wireless icon replaced the wired icon.

Thank You. Should I use that command if it ever disappears again? What causes the wireless icon to change?

It seems to be a known upstream bug in some wireless setups.

Sometimes deleting the "Wired" profile in network-manager forces it to only ever display the wireless icon.

GEMS, when marking a topic solved you have to append (SOLVED) to the subject line of the FIRST posting in the topic, not the last .. otherwise it doesn't show as solved in the forum menu structure ;)

I've done this one for you.
