« on: October 25, 2016, 05:14:02 pm »
Hello Peppermint people. My nephew has asked me if League of Legends can be played in Peppermint 7, since that is what I installed in his computer. And becauese I don't play games, I don't know anything about it. Does anybody know if it is possible and how? Thanks guys.

Looks like it's probably possible (depending on your hardware):
https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/2ilinc/guide_how_to_set_up_league_of_legends_on_linux/
but you're going to have to install the Windows version via WINE / Play on Linux .. and I have no idea how well it'll work.

Change the 3rd command in that tutorial from
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install wine1.7
to
Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install wine1.8

Hi PCNetSpec, I've been trying to install this on my machine as a proof and was following instructions from this site https://www.pcsteps.com/5213-install-league-of-legends-linux-mint-ubuntu/. I did find that I had to install wine1.8 and when it finishes the terminal freezes with this configuring message;

Package configuration

What a little knowledge will do for a person. Thanks PCNetSpec, I did get the game to start to install, but it gets to a point where it performs an update, more than 3800mb, and freezes. the only way to get out of it is to xkill it(supposed to be able to right click on it and close) and then when starting back into it, it starts at 33% and then freezes a little later and the cycle continues. Unless someone else knows more about this, I'm guessing this game can't be played in Peppermint 7. Thanks for your help.  :-\
