that bloody thing has been anoying me for ages..
It's odd though, some distros pick it up 'out the box' and others don't without scripting (lubuntu 16.04 was my last to pick it up out the box)

A Virtual Pint or two to you sir.

I did that when my Conky suddenly quit working, after an incremental update, but after the initial shock wore off I decided to 'get-with-the-program.'

It's easy enough to discover the Iname with 'route', et cetera.

My initial fear was that the Iname would change on every boot, but that turned out to be a misperception on my part.

I read an article, a while back, on the algo(s) they use to ascertain Inames (I think I linked to it in the dev sub or PM), and it all made sense afterward.

Really, it's a pretty clever idea ...   ;)
