Kernel 4.4.0-38 new issues
« on: September 20, 2016, 04:15:31 pm »
This is more of a cautionary post than anything, you may or may not have issues... My Lubuntu machine running very similar software to my Peppermint 7 machine decided to have kernel issues today... Everything was working the day earlier, except for today when I had an available kernel upgrade to 4.4.0-38 which introduced instability of my system causing a kernel panic. I was unable to REISUB and was forced to hard reboot (by pushing the power button down until the machine shut-down). After a couple of hard reboots, I was able to access the system, finally, but only to see that I was now having a mild kernel panic (i.e not one that is crashing my system). I upgraded to the latest kernel (which is currently 4.7.0) and did a regular reboot... Everything worked fine and applications behaved as normal, hopefully this prevents anyone from having possible issues...  :)

P.S: This is a very important update though, it seems to only effect this exact kernel update. Read more at: Softpedia.

To help us help you, ALL new requests for technical support should include basic system information.

If you haven't already done so, please open a terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run the following command:
Code: [Select]
inxi -Fz
then copy what was returned in the terminal and post it back here.

This was an automated response but please don't ignore it, providing this information now is highly likely to save time for both you and any prospective respondents and aid in the diagnosis of your problem  .. Thanks in advance :)

I have just encountered the same issue for 4.4.0-42 kernel.
REISUB done nothing and forced to hard reboot.
Reverted to a previous kernel.
