[SOLVED] Change Login Logo - Peppermint Seven
« on: October 01, 2016, 04:26:52 am »
Hi,

I was looking everywhere how to change the login (http://i.imgur.com/kqbw6zJ.png) logo but unfortunately nothing worked.

Could you please give me instructions how I could change the login to logo to a custom one?

Thank you.

To help us help you, ALL new requests for technical support should include basic system information.

If you haven't already done so, please open a terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and run the following command:
Code: [Select]
inxi -Fzthen copy what was returned in the terminal and post it back here.

This was an automated response but please don't ignore it, providing this information now is highly likely to save time for both you and any prospective respondents and aid in the diagnosis of your problem  .. Thanks in advance :)

Can you answer the autoresponse above when posting new topics .. in this case it's pretty irrelevant, but we want people to get into the habit.

Hey man. I was wondering the same.

try going to System Tools --> LightDM GTK+ Greeter Settings --> Appearence and below you can see the option of changing the icon

HOWEVER,
it doesn't work for me, regardless of the icon I choose there. Perhaps it has to be of a very specific resolution/format?

Try if it works for you.
Curious to what the skilled guys on the forum say on this one :)

Cheers

Hi r00t3r, how's it going :)?  Yeah, this is easy.  Firstly, make sure the image you're going to use is in .png format.  <<< This is important.  Now open the Nemo file manager and in your /home folder, find the file called .face.  Change it to .face.old.  You can do this quickly by running the following command in a terminal window:
Code: [Select]
mv -v ~/.face ~/.face.oldPlace the .png image you want to use in your /home folder.  Rename it .face.  That's it  :).  Reboot your machine to check the image shows up in the login screen  ;).  I hope this helps  ;).

Well, Andy beat me to it.  He's a ninja, that one.  ;)

Also, the .face file on the system is 96x96.  I'm not sure if it's necessary, but you may want to make the .png file you want to use the same size.
