If you get stuck, let us know where and I'll spin up a 32bit VM .. but i can't currently test it without a VM as all my machines are 64bit and the drivers are 32bit, Luckily you're running 32bit.

Okay I think I may have a solution, just need to test it installs in 32bit Peppermint .. hopefully I'll have some instructions this evening.

This link is ONLY for my reference
https://launchpad.net/~michael-gruz/+archive/ubuntu/canon-trunk/+packages?field.name_filter=&field.status_filter=published&field.series_filter=utopic
do NOT attempt to add this PPA to Peppermint 6 or 7 .. it contains no packages specifically for them.

ok, driver installed, but printer doesn't work. i've got this message in Printer state:

 Idle - File "/usr/lib/cups/filter/pstocanonij" has insecure permissions (0100755/uid=1000/gid=1000).

last problem solved with this

$ sudo chown root:root /usr/lib/cups/filter/pstocanonij

But printer doesn't work, it's stuck with this message

Idle - Sending data to printer.

Which driver ? .. I was kinda hoping you'd wait until I tested the ones from the PPA .. or are those the ones you've tried ?
