mdadm Software Raid Peppermint 7
« on: September 04, 2016, 02:13:57 pm »
Hi Guys. Is it possible to install Peppermint 7 in raid mode with mdadm?

I had used fdisk to make 4 primary partition, and band it with mdadm making 4 partitions (md0,md1,...)  for /boot (raid1), / (raid0), /home (raid1), swap (raid0). And there are always some troubles and it never boots after install, I tried few times. Disks are identical, same brand, model capacity, also partition i have made are identical.
There is always a problem during installation with GRUB. Even after installation in GRUB rescue mode manual booting doesn't work. I use Optiplex 330. On Esprimo is the same problem.
Have any one tried the mdadm raid?
(i have AHCI mode set ON in BIOS)

Sorry about the late reply, but I've just seen this post. I've got Peppermint 8 running on a RAID 0 array, and I used mdadm.

Would you be so kind and told me how You did it? I was tried with PMos7 and I was installing mdadm in live mode, next I done partitioning, and install. Need I install PMos normal first, and after that mdadm, or add mdadm to iso (I don't know how to that, but know it is possible). Do You use btrfs or something else? I will be very grateful for response. It's child's play in for examlpe fedora, but I really want, to do that in light and fast debian based distro, like PMos.

See the ticked response here for  RAID-1:

Which RAID type are you going for ?

I'd like to make:
/boot - RAID1,
/home - RAID1,
/root - RAID0,
swap - RAID0,
