Problems installing PM7 [SOLVED]
« on: September 04, 2016, 10:04:22 am »
Hi, I haven't logged on in a while but rest assured I have continued to use PM!  ;D

I got PM7 set up on the Netbook no problem. However, on my desktop it's proving tricky to install.   :-\ The setup here is an SSD which has Win 7 and PM6 on it and they've worked OK together.

I cannot get the LiveUSB to install. It gives me the error msg as per screenshot below. I used UNetbootin to create the LiveUSB. I had initially used Mint USB Formatter and Image Writer but that wouldn't create a recognisable USB that would boot.

I did checksum test the download file also and it appears fine.

Wondering if the Community can help me sort it? I'm liking PM7 so far on the netbook! Seems a little bit smoother out of the box than PM6, but that may be subjective.

Hope the regular users are all well and thank you in advance!!  :D

Yeah, some people are having issues with Peppermint 7 and Unetbootin.  Boot up Peppermint 6 or use your Peppermint 7 installation to rewrite the stick using the USB Image Writer program.  That may solve your problem.

If you can keep your head while all around are losing theirs then you're not quite grasping the situation

Thank you - that worked.  :)

Ages since I've done much on this desktop. I think I may have put the boot-loader onto the wrong partition (I chose the top level sda, perhaps I should have chosen sda1 which was Windows 7 (Loader).

This is a duel boot set-up.

Consequently, I don't see the option to boot into Win 7 now when I start-up...

Any quick fixes for that? I'm guessing it's to edit grub somehow?
